Ruby Beach - Photographers Paradise on the Washington Coast

Our German college exchange students are a constant source of spirit and energy, something Rich and I lack these days. Oh the traveling young can see beyond the day to day grind and really open our eyes to the importance of taking time to have some fun and adventure. Jule said that she had read about Ruby Beach on the North Washington Coast when she was back in Germany. She had seen a couple of pictures in a book and knew she wanted to visit there. I should point out, that the last time I was there was an advanced photography class when I was in college 30 years ago....my how time flys.

Since we have our Seashore Dreams vacation rental situated in Moclips, we decided a weekend at the beach would be in order and that she could bring along her boyfriend Bjorn.

The weather was awesome in that it was nearly 60 F in February and the sun was warm on our faces and backs.

The photography excursion was very fun and I highly recommend photographing Ruby Beach for the beginner. It's a great place to relax and compose your shots - although you do have to be careful on a sunny day with all the glare and reflections of the water and waves. I favored taking my photo's in Black and White and took over 50 photo's in a 1 hour period. I believe Bjorn and Jule took a lot more.

I highly recommend this as a place to practice your photography. The drive is about 5-6 hours from Seattle or 4 hours from Tacoma, but was only 1 hour and 15 minutes from Moclips which was very nice for us.

If anyone has any other North Coastal photography suggestions, please let me know.
